dc.description.abstract | Corruption is, like elsewhere in the world, a problem in Namibia. Various international, regional and sub-regional legal instruments have been ratified by Namibia which specifically deals with the problem of corruption, including the much-hailed United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). The problem is that the incidence of corruption does not seem to decrease in the country despite several national complementary pieces of legislation. In a review of Namibia's obligations in terms of the UNCAC and its compliance thereof, a comparison was drawn with the French anticorruption system as a methodology of answering the research question. Although France sets a good example at proactiveness in attempting to comply with the UNCAC, it might not provide the best parallel for Namibia. Better examples of good practices may be found on the African continent like in the case of South Africa. Namibia complies with the UNCAC to a certain extent but lacks harmonization of its approach | en_US |
