This study examines the impact of FPI on economic activity in Namibia for the period 1990 to 2015. A total of26 observations were sourced from the World Bank data base on variables of interest to the study. In examining the impact of FPl, the study used the ordinary least squares (OLS) regression method to estimate the relationship. It established two statistically significant multiple regression models that were used to explain the impact of FPI on economic activity. The first regression model was to estimate the effect of FPI on the GDP of Namibia. The second model was to investigate the impact of FPJ on the economic growth in Namibia. This thesis noted that, Namibia, like any other developing country needs accelerated economic growth, in order to achieve her economic prosperity. The results showed that, FDI and Gross Domestic Savings spurred economic growth whilst employment and FPI were insignificant. The study also recognised the fact that, bulk of domestic savings are channelled out of the country as FPI outflows, with South Africa as the major destination. The key finding for this study is that, FPis have not impacted economic growth in Namibia in any way during the period under study. It is also noted that portfolio investments into Namibia are very low. This defies all efforts by Government to attract portfolio inflows into the country for improving economic growth and deepening financial markets.en_US
